Here we are wrapping it up…..another summer flown by and a school year approaching. Life has taken off and I am trying to slow it down with no luck at all. All good things come to an end including seasons. We are in a scheduling frenzy around here! Dentist (check), School supplies (check), testing for school (1/2 a check) you get the point. Why oh why do I wait till the last 2 weeks of summer to do these things? That is a question I ask myself every year at this time!
In between our check list we have managed to make some trips to the beach. Our weekend was filled with Michigan. I notice myself more focused there. I pay attention to what is going on around me, really talk to my kids and take the moment in. Why oh why does it take getting away to remind you of what is important I do not know. It really does makes a difference. Less distractions are good.

Saturday – My Mary Cate Apert Awareness Benefit
WHEN: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18
WHERE: 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115th St., Merrionette Park
COST: $35 adults; $10 kids; food, drinks and entertainment featuring live performance by Katie Quick and Big Fish Music Productions. All money goes to help Mary Cate’s family as they endure medical expenses for many upcoming surgeries.
Sunday – 4th Annual Molly Browne Gallagher Lemonade Stand
WHEN: 11:00am – 3:00pm, August. 19
WHERE: Directly across from The Gallagher House/ 102nd & Fairfield in Chicago
All money raised will go directly to Misericordia, In Memory of John Fallon, Mike’s life-long friend who passed away in January. Come out and enjoy a lemonade and some cookies. There will be raffle tickets for an Ipad and baskets! Face painting…….Fun for all!
